God: Revealed
Tim Challies writes an exceptional review on the DVD, March of the Penguins, in which he points out the the documentary inadvertently reveals the creative Power of God. In responding to Ebert's review citing the movie as "Darwinism embodied," Challies replies,
The Emperor Penguin does not embody Darwinism but clearly shows the handiwork of a Creator. "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse" (Romans 1:20). It is startling to think that everyone who watches this incredible film has further left himself without excuse when he stands before God and attempts to plead ignorance.
I encourage everybody who reads this to follow this link to Amazon and give his review (published 12/3/05) a helpful vote. With enough activity on that review it may bring many thousands of Christmas holiday shoppers face-to-face with the Glory of God in creation.
God's glory in creation is revealed through the annual penguinal trek. It is revealed through the vastness of the ever-growing universe with galaxy upon intricate galaxy seemingly spreading forever, all Created through Christ and held together in him as well:
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:15-17, ESV)
What an honor I have to have a saltwater aquarium sitting in my living room, right next to the chair where I do the majority of my reading and praying. Looking over and seeing the delicate intricacy of the feather dusters, the pulsing regularity of the xenia, and even the simple complexity of each coralline-algae-covered grain of sand. Praise God that he revealed his power and nature in his creations. Let us not neglect to stop, enjoy what He's made, and praise Him for it. I can't wait to see what new treasures revealing God's creative power heaven has in store.
or else it is complex to write.
