A Sense of the Resurrection

Hi Friends! I just really wanted to let you know about another great resource that our family is starting this week.

Amanda White, the author of Truth in the Tinsel released a new e-book titled, A Sense of the Resurrection: An Easter Experience for Families.

I am excited to do this and would encourage you to consider doing it with your kids.

Each activity focuses on one of the five senses--for example, smelling the perfume Mary used to anoint Jesus' feet, hearing the rooster crow after Peter's denial.

This book is a little different from Truth in the Tinsel for a few reasons:

1. It's only 12 activities, instead of 24. (Whew, imagine 24 activities about Jesus' death!!)

2. It's a little heavier because it is about something so serious--death and resurrection!

3. The activities are not just crafts--they are big memory-makers (like making bread for the Last Supper) or what she likes to call "memorials" where you make a craft-project that transforms your home (like making sparkly window catchers to remind you of the bright angel who rolled Jesus' stone away).

Each chapter includes the following sections,  Sense, Scripture, Activity, Talk, and an optional printable flag. I love that for the scripture portion she says, "Begin by reading the Scripture directly from the Bible. If you grew up in church, you may know t heard it a hundred times. So, make sure you read each word of the passage so they can hear it exactly how it happened." She also encourages you to read the passage beforehand, so you can judge, based on your kids’ ages and attention span how much to read to them. It’s a great opportunity for us, as parents to gain a renewed awe of Christ’s death and resurrection.

I love that she incorporates the use of our 5 senses. This makes the learning so much more memorable for our kiddos.

As with every resource, I encourage you to be discerning, or as I like to say, eat the meat and spit out the bones.

Please email me if you have any questions.
